I think that Beholder is coming along nicely. The updates could be a little quicker. I'm looking forward to the additional search options. When it's completed I'm sure that it will be even better than the previous version. I think that I'm the only one who is going to miss the eyeball icon. I liked it!

Beholder Developer NoteFor users of Beholder 2.1.1 and earlier... - Version: 3.0a1, 11/5/2006 04:41PM PST

As the current engine was a bit outdated (and only functions somewhat reliably with AllTheWeb), we've completely rewritten Beholder from scratch. The first public release of this new version (Beholder 3.0a1) is now available. Though it is not yet feature complete, it does once again fully support Google image search, and will eventually include the oft-requested "sort by size" feature (probably in 3.01a2).

When the final version of Beholder 3.0 is released, it will be a free upgrade for all current registered users, and will remain at its $19.95 price for new users.

Thanks for your support.

Beholder ReviewI don't get it - Version: 2.1.1, 9/24/2006 07:10PM PST

I downloaded this to try it. The first thing I noticed is there is no Google search!

I can only search one source at a time (not serious)

When I get results I click a thumbnail and see the very ugly enlargement of the thumbnail (far better to just look at the thumbnail)

I cannot see any way to view the original full size image. There is no URL to the original. There is a link which when clicked results in a URL too long error.

It is fast but it is useless if I can't even find the source of the images.

Beholder ReviewAppreciate this software and its author - Version: 2.0, 11/15/2004 03:44PM PST

This is an excellent piece of coding and while I wish all software remained freeware, I understand the fact that the author would like to be compensated for his hard work. I'm especially greatful that the author has provided a freeware version for those who only occasionally use this program and cannot justify the expense. Thank you to the author.

Note to cjstein: It is possible to delete a previous VT posting. As you might notice, I have. Just click on your name in the posting, then on the entry you wish to delete, then click delete at the end of the posting.

Sorry, I didn't know there was a Beholder Lite version available. Since I can't go back and change my ratings, I will do it here.

Beholder Reviewselect by file size?? - Version: 1.5.1, 10/20/2004 02:28PM PST

i found this application and it is so helpful and fast. but the most important thing for me is to select the images by file size. there“s no way to do this with beholder. if this will be possible, i would pay for it. sort by Hue, Saturation and Lightness is funny but unnecessary. no light without shadow, anyway, great app.

Super app! It's fast and well suited for *one* task instead of trying do do upteen different things. Great way to get creative juices flow when starting a new graphic design project. These guys know their stuff. If you have't checked out theConcept, do so. Needs a new icon is my only suggestion.

Beholder Usage TipMore than Google - Version: 1.4, 5/27/2004 01:28PM PST

AllTheWeb and Altavista are still supported, but those sites now use Yahoo to get their images, and thus the default search engines that came with Beholder need to be updated. If you go to our Search Engine Library web page you can download updated versions. You can also go there by selecting "Search Engine Library" from the Beholder Help menu.

FYI, you can also download engines for many more sites other than just Google: Lycos, Ditto, Amazon, even iTunes.
