Product Description:

QuickPlayCM is a contextual menu plugin for Mac OS X. It let you play movie and other multimedia files that are supported by QuickTime without launching any application. It also has some other feature like adding thumbnail to the movie file from the current scene you are watching.

Features

It can display movie, audio and any other multimedia files (that QuickTime supports) without launching any applications.
The format it supports are including but not limited to:

QuickTime movie (.mov)
Flash movie (.swf)
Mpeg movie (.mpg)
Mpeg4 movie (.mp4)
GIF animation (.gif)
MP3 music (.mp3)
MP4 music with AAC codec (.m4a) --- requires QT 6.2 or later

You can add thumbnail icons to the movie file from the scene you are watching.
You can easily set the desktop picture from the movie scene you are watching
Movie windows can be resized to enlarge/reduce movie.

What's new in this version:

Added toolbar buttons to the movie window.
Added enlarge/reduce view size commands.
Added support for wheel mouse to enlarge/reduce view size.
Added set/restore desktop picture commands.
Added copy command, which copy the current scene to the Clipboard as a picture.
Added Preference dialog and an option to decide whether to start movie automatically or not.
Fixed not to show the 'QuickPlay...' context menu if still images like JPEG files are selected. The old version showed the context menu even for the obvious still images.
Now clicking window's close box will always finish the operation and return to the Finder
Changed the way to create movie window from dynamic to NIB file base.
Clean up the source code and fixed some minor bugs.

Editor's Notes:

This software works with Panther (10.3) but does NOT work with Jaguar (10.2). So please do not use it with Jaguar.

Causing Kernal Panics - Version: 1.1, 12/28/2004 07:45PM PST

I installed in the morning and began having kernal panics soon thereafter. (I haven't had a kernal panic for months.) I uninstalled and have been kernal panic free for about a day. Not sure what's conflicting. I don't use Fruit Menu. In fact, I have very few system extras. I'm running 10.3.7. I use Cocktail regularly.

This author continues to release killer 'lil utilities that add incredible functionality to the Finder AND ALMOST ALL OF IT OF FREEWARE!

Man, if I were a wealthy guy I’d donate a chunk 'o change to you, my man. You are a true Mac hero.

Very speedy way to preview movies for your own use on the desktop. No good for display purposes, for which Bitplayer is still the undoubted king of freeware.
