Product Description:

Sync Entourage-Address Book 2.6 synchronizes Entourage and Apple's Address Book in OS 10.3 (Panther) and 10.4 (Tiger). It has been upgraded to use the new features of Entourage 2004, but will continue to work as an update in Entourage X as well. It allows you to maintain Entourage as your centralized Personal Information Manager while at the same time taking advantage of the direct access provided to iSync, iChat, iPod, the .Mac Address Book, Fax programs, and more by OS X's Address Book. All Entourage fields sync to Address Book and back, with any unmapped fields recorded in the Notes, and Address Book's Related Names fields mapped to Entourage Custom Fields if desired. You can keep both applications in constant synchronization by running the script at any time, or automatically every night if you wish.

What's new in this version:

v2.6.4 is a free update to any v2.x, and incorporates the significant 2.6 update with new features.

IMPORTANT! If you were using any version 2.5.8 through 2.6.2 in Tiger and did not already update to 2.6.3 and re-run PREFS Installer:

Run PREFS Installer to confirm FirstName LastName, Toggle One-Way Synching, and Saving Deletion Checking prefs (don't worry that your current choice may not be highlighted), then run it again to see that your selected choice IS now confirmed by a highlighted button, checkbox or list item.

You do not need to do this if you already did so with v2.6.3 or later, or if you never ran any version in Tiger until now.

NEW in v2.6.4:

Fixes a minor bug in 2.6.3 that synced multiple Children from Entourage to a single "child" field in Address Book separated by commas, instead of to multiple separate "child" fields. Fixed in 2.6.4.

New Features in v2.6:

All Entourage Custom Fields sync to Address Book custom fields (not notes), and back.
In Tiger, both Home and Work web pages (URLs) sync both directions.
In One-Way Entourage Overwrites Address Book mode, now restores deleted Address Book contacts when Checking for Deletions.

Switching pains to Office 2008 for Mac - Version: 2.6.4, 6/28/2008 06:07PM PST

I have used SEAB for a while on Office 2004, and it was mostly ok, although the fields have never quite fully matched, particularly the Entourage categories get lost on their way.

Since I have switched to Office 2008 I get a weird error:
"The variable abperson is not defined. -2753"
so it became very unstable, can only sync one entry at a time, with an average time of over 5 minutes per sync.
If like me you have over one thousand entry, I let you do the math...

I have emailed the developer a few times asking for help several time this month, but no reply so far. Paul, where are you??? Talk to me...

Since I would prefer to stick to Entourage for email/address book, but want to buy a new iPhone, being able to sync would be critical.

An ideal solution would be to sync directly from Entourage without having to go through AB, however even with a direct conduit I would still want to take advantage of my .mac account, so SEAB is still very much needed.

Hope Paul will come up with a new version very soon.

Erasing my Entourage Contacts! - Version: 2.6.4, 12/11/2006 05:58PM PST

I thought I followed the directions, but after running the script the first time I got an error telling me that the script had encountered errors in ten contacts. When I told it to quit as per its recommendation, I received the following error:

[Immediate error:]
Can't make name of <<class cAbe>> id 774 of application "Microsoft Entourage" into type Unicode text. -1700

and all my contacts but the first 54 were erased from Entourage.

Any thoughts?
