Sync Entourage-Address Book 2 [Panther/Tiger] - 2.6.4

I have used SEAB for a while on Office 2004, and it was mostly ok, although the fields have never quite fully matched, particularly the Entourage categories get lost on their way.

Since I have switched to Office 2008 I get a weird error:
"The variable abperson is not defined. -2753"
so it became very unstable, can only sync one entry at a time, with an average time of over 5 minutes per sync.
If like me you have over one thousand entry, I let you do the math...

I have emailed the developer a few times asking for help several time this month, but no reply so far. Paul, where are you??? Talk to me...

Since I would prefer to stick to Entourage for email/address book, but want to buy a new iPhone, being able to sync would be critical.

An ideal solution would be to sync directly from Entourage without having to go through AB, however even with a direct conduit I would still want to take advantage of my .mac account, so SEAB is still very much needed.

Hope Paul will come up with a new version very soon.

I thought I followed the directions, but after running the script the first time I got an error telling me that the script had encountered errors in ten contacts. When I told it to quit as per its recommendation, I received the following error:

[Immediate error:]
Can't make name of <<class cAbe>> id 774 of application "Microsoft Entourage" into type Unicode text. -1700

and all my contacts but the first 54 were erased from Entourage.

Any thoughts?

Had problem, see below, and after finding the Read Me and e-mailing the author, got a solution in less than 24 hours. Simple fix!

It sync's all field's, including notes, and allows for custom mappings of fields as well.

Worth every cent. Same for Sync Entourage-iCal.

This is the best product I have found to get your Entourage data synced over to Address Book. It is highly flexible and even can be setup to sync on a recurring basis automatically.

PRO: It WORKS. Normally this is not a big deal, but when it comes to sync'ing, there are so many programs out there that don't work or have very limited features. It's been running every night now for over 6 months, and I have rarely had to touch a thing. The developer posts frequently to newsgroups/forums around the web. He is very helpful and knowledgeable on anything Entourage. The software is continually updated to tweak compatibility issues and add new features.

CONs: It is too pricey. While the documentation is complete, like the software, it is a little confusing to initially understand. Take the time to read through it and understand how this works. If you are a complete newbie to computers, this might not be the software for you. It will take some work to get it up and running.

I tried PocketMac's GoBetween in the past - that was catastrophic. I also tried e2Sync with only partial success.

This script does exactly what it says it will, and the support and commitment of the developer is admirable. Sure, you have to read the instructions. But adults should have no problem. Everyone else will grumble on this website.
