Product Description:

I know that a lot of people have been waiting for a solution to the capslock/control problem under Panther. Well...

I just finished modifying the keyboard driver for the G4 powerbooks (it may well work on other ADB keyboard machines). This driver will map the capslock and enter keys to control.

PLEASE read the messages in the installer before hitting the install button!

What's new in this version:

One additional bug was fixed. There was a case where a return from sleep could leave the driver in all caps mode.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1
  • Mac OS X 10.0

Additional Requirements:

  • ADB keyboard on G4 PowerBooks. It may well work with older systems with ADB keyboard. I only have a TiBook and AlBook to test on.

Capslock to Control Commentary10.3.9 installs AppleADBKeyboard.kext? - Version: 1.8, 4/18/2005 06:17PM PST

CLHarx
After applying 10.3.9 my caps lock reverted to being a caps lock. I looked in /System/Library/Extensions and AppleADBKeyboard.kext had been replaced.

I deleted AppleADBKeyboard.kext.orig and reran the installer, rebooted, and I'm back up with capslock=control, so no (apparent) harm done.

Is this cool?

Capslock to Control CommentaryNo uninstall - Version: 1.8, 9/20/2004 08:58PM PST

I tried Capslock to Control - it does work, but I decided I wanted to have the Enter key back, so I tried to follow the instructions to uninstall this program - but the instructions are not very clear (at least they weren't to me). I have written the author about this.

In following the instructions the computer managed to leave me totally without a keyboard. Thanks to Apple's Target mode and someone with an iBook I was able to finally get the keyboard back to normal.

This program does what it claims to do, but trying to undo it needs to be greatly improved.
