Oxford 922 FireWire Usage Tipnot only for 922 chips - Version: 1.06, 6/23/2005 07:33AM PST

Strikes me why this is called "922". Just updated a firewire housing with 911 chip built-in, successfully.

Kudos though to Versiontracker for making this download available. Oxford offers nothing but the Upload PDF manual. @ Oxford: 'TNX' a lot!

Oxford 922 FireWire CommentaryDon't listen to Alex! - Version: 1.06, 11/5/2003 08:32AM PST

Alex, if YOU read MacFixit carefully you would see this:

MacFixit: we continue to recommend caution when using FireWire drives with Panther, regardless of the connection speed (400 vs. 800) or the chipset used.

Alex, I suggest you get your facts straight next time before you end up steering people towards disaster (complete loss of data and backups). When it comes to issues like this, I read MacFixit VERY carefully.

I tried to update my spark 800 with the program I got from FirewireDirect. After launching the program, it just sat on my dock. It didn't anything at all.

If you read macfixit carefully, you would notice the problem is centered on firewire drives from people other then apple working on computers with out firewire 800.

MacFixit says Firewire 400 is affected... is this fact being ignored by Apple? Do you use this firmware if you have an external Maxtor firewire drive?

Apple needs to shut down it's fricken' homepage and redirect all users to info on this and pull Panther off the shelves and include a warning notice... or better yet recall Panther and go BACK and beta test the goddam thing. Grrrr.....

Apple needs to get a handle on this NOW! WIRED has an article on this being read by millions of potential "switchers". Looks like Apple's recent policy of making consumers who pay for their products unwitting non-paid beta testers is coming back to bite them in the ass.
