WHY... - Version: 2.7, 12/22/2007 11:26PM PST

Gennx30Does it make Breakfast AND get the kids off to school?
Why would anyone be fool enough to pay USD $21.50 for an app you can get several places for FREE?
AND, if you can do without the Apple alert sounds, you can just go to the Sound Pref Pane, drag the slider to zero and check the MUTE box, for
FREE and would take 9.77797 seconds of your time.
Unbelievable!
Startup Sound Preference pane is free, and does the same thing - Version: 2.7, 11/10/2007 11:56AM PST

Gennx30You can also go to 'sound' in your preference panes and click 'mute'

Lousy entertainment... - Version: 2.6, 9/11/2007 02:09AM PST

artie505I immediately know, from their names, which of VT's daily offerings are AO products, and I check them out for the laughs I get from reading peoples' all too accurate comments.
I have NEVER run across a piece of AO software that wasn't a duplication of OS X functionality, a costly alternative to free/donationware, or both.
Further, most, if not all, AO apps are remarkably large d/ls as compared to their functionality, and I must wonder if the developer thinks that large d/ls make hir apps look like they have more substance than they actually have?
And finally, I've never run across a piece of AO software that I'd recommend to even my worst enemy!
Harsh, yeah, but well deserved.
Entertainment, yeah, but LOUSY entertainment!

MrsKatzThere's, for example, the FREE and excellent "Psst", which I've been using for the past few years.
I'd say that AlphaOmegaSoftware SUCKS. All their simple apps are grossly overpriced and are essentially copies of other developers ideas. A most lackluster and uninspiring company that's totally devoid of imagination.

JeffChI tried one of their other apps, and wasn't that impressed. Most of the stuff they put out seems like homework assignments from a basic programming class.
my .02 :-)
gosh, i'm in a quandary here; maybe somebody can help me out. should i buy Startup Chime Stopper for $15.00, or should i go with StartupSoundPrefPane, which
- gives me the option not only of silencing the startup chord, but adjusting its volume independent of the volume settings in my Sound pref pane, and
- lets me do it all through a simple, intuitive, self-explanatory UI, and
- is free?
i hate these tough questions. can anybody help me out? what would Groucho do?
