Nicecast ReviewRock solid reliability and quality. - Version: 1.9.5, 8/13/2009 12:41PM PST

englishdingbat
I have been using Nicecast to stream our community and student radio station now since May 2009 and the only time i have to relaunch it was after a system update! This app makes a very pleasing 128kps bitrate mp3 sound that is clean, and reliable. With the processing options, our listeners have already noticed a difference in the sound quality of the station output.

We also use it with Audio Hijack Pro to archive and schedule repeating.

I would recommend this to anyone wanting to start streaming audio in mp3 format. (ACC is apparently being looked at!) Download it, buy it and use it straight away and notice the difference! You can hear us using it to stream to mixstream for broadcast at:

http://www.cre8radiofm.net/listen

at 128kps (from a back up 96kps ACC file currently, running off MacPro - whilst using for other things!) and live from Sept 09.

PS. I DO NOT work for and neither am i sponsored by rogueamoeba!!! lol.

Nicecast Review1.9.5 Does not connect - Version: 1.9.5, 2/4/2009 03:13PM PST

trubleliever
I can't get this upgrade to the version that did work, 1.9.4, to connect. I still have 1.9.4 on another drive so can connect with that. So far I haven't heard back from the developer whom I contacted yesterday. I could give 4 starts to 1.9.4, this one gets nothing.

Nicecast Reviewtoo good! - Version: 1.9.4, 9/24/2008 11:56AM PST

I have been using Nicecast for a few years now. It works and works well. I just moved house and had a little problem setting up my router ports. I can't stress how helpful the Rogue Amoeba support guys are. They went out of their way to get me up and running again. I thoroughly recommend! Buy now! If you don't want to buy, take the free trial. What do you have to lose? Big-up the Rogues! And a big thank you to them. Their other software rocks too.

Nicecast ReviewAwesome software just gets better... - Version: 1.9.0, 1/30/2008 12:00AM PST

Nicecast is great, I've been broadcasting 24/7 for three years now. It has never let me down. On the firewall/router comment below, I say that unless you have the savvy to adjust your own equipment, you shouldn't be doing it. And why is it Rogue Amoeba's fault you don't have such knowledge?

Nicecast CommentaryCasual users are turned away by the firewall problem - Version: 1.9d1, 12/9/2007 06:25AM PST

nicmart
Nicecast would appeal to many casual users were they not to immediately encounter a firewall/router problem. Broadcasting is often blocked until adjustments are made to the firewall or the router. Rogue Amoeba has stubbornly refused to address this longstanding problem either in its design of Nicecast, or in thorough and well-illustrated instructions. Proper attention to this issue would, I think, increase usage of the product manyfold, but arrogance seems to prevent it from happening. Despite the high rating for this product, one can't help but notice how few reviews there are. Many people download it and lose interest after they discover they have to deal with a technical obstacle with Rogue Amoeba's shallow and inscrutable "help".

I was very happy with the software and the customer service people who were very helpful, which is always a big plus with me, i'm a web designer so deal with lots of customer service people and it's so nice just to be able to send an email, not have to wait days and days for a reply and get a real person responding and actually telling you what you want to know

I want to create a radio station as I have over 2000 songs I got free on line. Can anyone tell me if there are copyright laws about broadcasting what belongs to you. No one has been able to answer my questions as they just say well research your local laws and I can't find anything? I live in California however are USA laws the same no matter where you reside? Thanks for your help!
