Product Description:

DateTree will copy files into a set of folders named by date. Although the program was written with images in mind, it will handle any file. Selective copying is possible, and several date-based organizations are offered.

DateTree understands the dates which many digital cameras embed into digital photo files. If the embedded date is not available, or for non-image files, DateTree uses the modification date of the file to determine which date folder it should be placed into.

DateTree's copy is much faster than the processing-intensive import in iPhoto and other image processing programs. It's perfect for those who prefer not to use a complex photo manager, and only lack a tool to organize their images in the file system.

What's new in this version:

Support for grouping files into folders named by month.

Ignore my comment below telling you to ignore the first comment. It ran fast for about 30 seconds and then went back to taking ALMOST A MINUTE PER PICTURE... far to slow to be of any use at all.

I have now spent over an hour and a half trying to "save time" by using this program to do something I could have just done by hand in like 15 minutes. No more. I'm sorry I even took the time. 90 minutes wasted on this. Geez.

Sorry, ignore my comment saying to ignore my first comment. The program ran fast for a minute, and then hung... out... for... an... hour... crrrraaaaawwwwllllinngggggggg.... aaaaaaaassssssss.... ssssssllllooowwwlllyyy..... aaaasss..... possssssiblllleeeee..... I've now wasted an hour and a half trying to "save time" automatically organizing my photos into folders with this program, when it would have been, done in 15 minutes if I had simply done it by hand. No more. Never again. I'm sorry I even tried.

It also won't Abort when you tell it to, and won't let you quit 9 out of 10 times.

Ignore my below comment. It was my computer, not DateTree. After I zapped the PRAM, it was very fast, worked like a charm.
