We use Ultimate Pen on our classroom computers that are attached to TV monitors. It is a GREAT way for teachers to demonstate various lessons to kids, such as editing.

Lex LuthorA lot of work/tweaking has been going on but I still
can't see how it gets the $20 price tag.
FlySketch also costing twenty bucks would be good
choice to download as a comparison of what a really
innovative product looks like.

It's a good idea.

I've found it useful as a scratch pad for reminders that I need to have visible on screen but without obstructing my normal view. I've found it pretty useful there. The interface and shortcuts weren't that intuitive and I had to go back and reread the instructions before I could get it to work OK. It seems stable (no crashes in five days and 23 starts); and in comparison to Desktastic I think it IS more useable; the click-thru short-cut is probably the biggest thing that differentiates the two, that makes a real difference to me. One complaint is that the tool box ought to be visible by default each time the app starts, currently it's not. But all in all I like the program, I'll play with it until the evaluation period (which is very fair) expires and maybe I'll buy it; the only thing stopping me doing so now is that the $20 price seems pretty steep for what I will use it for. When I checked on the web site i couldn't find the Anniversary $5 off sale that Lex Luthor mentioned - maybe it's expired. Ignoring the price issue though, I'll still give it five stars because i do think it's a good app.

Since everybody keeps asking us about the differences between Ultimate Pen and Desktastic, we decided to post a web page with a chart showing the features of each.

Who wants to pay $20 for a toy like this? Unless you don't use it as a toy, of course, win which case it's justified. But this is why I made Stupidly Fun Drawing Program free.
Scribble over the cost! - Version: 1.1, 11/26/2003 08:41AM PST

Even with the special Anniversary $5 off Sale it's still $15.
Desktastic at $13 is a little better value - not a lot of difference
between 'em. Except that for "Li'l Apps" why do they cost so
much ?
If you need to a quick scribble or do a visually demonstration/draw
stupid pictures all-over your desktop - it'll cost you.
Maybe the less well-off could try 'Stupidly Fun Drawing Program'

it's freeware and made by a 14 year old .

Beta testers didn't have a problem. Please submit a crash report. - Version: 1.1, 11/26/2003 08:27AM PST

Our beta testers haven't had any problems at all on 10.3. In fact, I'm running 10.3 now and the app works great.
Can you please send the log file with the crash report in it to support@snowmintcs.com. The log file should be in the Library/Logs/CrashReporter/ folder in your home folder. It's just plain text and will help us solve this problem. We'll resolve this as soon as possible.

"There are other presentation applications available that do not lock out other apps, and Ultimate Pen does work with those." and "There are other presentation applications available that stay in presentation mode when Ultimate Pen comes to the front, and Ultimate Pen does work with those."
But these do not include Keynote or Powerpoint, respectively.
So which presentation applications DO work?
