Product Description:

The main purpose of DragThing is to make items on your Mac such as files, folders, applications, disks, URLs, and even windows, quickly and easily accessible, while taking up as little space on your screen as possible. The main elements with which DragThing enables this speedy access are its docks. DragThing?s docks, unlike the Mac OS X system dock, are highly configurable and you can have multiple docks, customised to suit your specific circumstances. DragThing also allows you to define a huge variety of hot keys. These hot keys can open items in docks, control various other aspects of DragThing and even control the visibility of and switching between other applications running on your Mac. DragThing can also provide you with a Trash on your desktop, play sounds in response to actions like ejecting a CD, and a lot more besides.

What's new in this version:

  • Full support for spring-loaded folders. You can now drag items from the Finder over a folder in a DragThing dock, wait or press the space bar, and then continue dragging into subfolders or to applications in that folder. Dragging attachments or clippings into folders is supported too.
  • Cool visual effects when switching between layers including fades, zooms, spins, and wipes. Is it at all useful? No. But is it cool? Yes!
  • A restricted "Classroom Mode" designed for using DragThing in a lab, classroom, or home environment. With this enabled, you can't change any docks or settings - or even quit DragThing - without the administrator password. Special educational site license pricing is also available. Contact me for more details.
  • Another special mode that hides DragThing's icon in the Apple Dock, and turns DragThing into a background-only application that blends in with the OS and can't be switched to, hidden or accidentally quit.
  • Editable text clippings. You can now use DragThing to store small notes, or edit existing clippings you have in your docks.
  • Permanent Process Dock items. Like that other dock.
  • Lots more. There are over fifty improvements in DragThing 5.5. The full list is available at http://www.dragthing.com/english/history.html
  • This is a free upgrade for registered users of DragThing 5.

I've been using DT for eons.

I think this software and its developer should be used by other developers as benchmarks for quality, usefulness and reliability.

I've never had any issues with this software and its customisation means I can set it up just how I like it and just get on with using it.

Outstanding.

I'm using DT for 10+ years ... in my opinion is one of the best examples of useful, elegant, very-difficult-to-live-without applications. Timely and effectively updated when needed, no useless 'upgrades'. Thank you!
