Wide Screen Movie Player ReviewUseful with high resolution displays - Version: 2.4, 8/9/2007 01:55PM PST

I found this tiny software kind of useful when you have very high res displays like i do. I have an Hi-Res 17" MacBook Pro and a 30" Dell Ultrasharp display and I use them both at the highest resolution. This sometimes causes problems when I watch low-res movies like standard 640x480 letterboxed MPEG4 that don't perform very well when viewed at full screen.
With Wide Screen Movie Player you can easily set the size of the player while keeping a nice black background that doesn't disturb your eyes.

For what I have seen the application basically creates a black windows that embeds a quicktime player that you can resize inside the container using keybord shortcuts or the menu bar. the window can be set at full screen hiding the dock and the menubar. stretching the embedded qt player have a slightly different behaviour than switching quicktime to full screen mode and i found it better. the problems arise when you try to zoom the actual content. that is pretty useless since the videos become unwatchable and out-of-sync even on a 2.4 dual core macbook pro.

the licence is definetly too expensive for what you get

Wide Screen Movie Player ReviewI don't see what all the fuss is about... - Version: 2.2, 3/22/2007 09:30AM PST

...It's a widescreen Movie Player. I have a laptop, I want to play my widescreen movies in the correct aspect ratio on my widescreen tv. Apple didn't provide me with a 16:9 resolution output for the tv, and so I need a piece of software that can stretch the image so it's correct on the tv.

Are you telling me that QuickTime Player and/or VLC do these things? Because as far as I know, they don't.

Wide Screen Movie Player ReviewI beg your pardon... - Version: 2.2, 2/25/2007 05:05PM PST

I beg your pardon, but I don't recall having posted a review of this product here yet.
Did I?
So why all the AtuGuy bashing?
And since when do we not have the right to positively review products for which we have purchased a license?
I mean, how else can we properly review products if we aren't actually using them?
And that said, I will now concur that this is an excellent movie player.
I am the owner of a very large collection of DVDs and using Wide Screen Movie Player I am able to enjoy watching my favorite flicks in wide screen mode as they were intended to be seen.
If you don't understand why wide screen is preferable to letterbox,
then I can see why you might not appreciate this application.
But if you can't appreciate the quality of Alpha Omega's products then you probably shouldn't be writing negative reviews here.
Maybe some of you took a wrong turn on your way to the forum for developer bashing?
This forum is intended for serious reviews from serious users.
Thank you
