Don't need this at all - it is simple to open the stream in QuickTime player (will need Flip4mac installed), copy a clip in the slider and paste it into a new movie which can then be saved.
Why?

I´ve tried version after version - and never had a lot of success.
I use CocoaJT instead - it has alot more features and it actually WORKS every time.

Illegal ASF File? - Version: 0.6, 5/2/2006 09:37AM PST

As noted by previous poster, I was presented with a file captured with ASFRecorderX. The file played on WMP9Mac but not Flip4Mac.
I tried playing the file on WMP10 on a Windows XP box and it DID NOT play there either.
I attempted to open the file in ASFView on Windows XP. It's a Microsoft ASF analytical tool.
It reported that "Object data size is greater than the available data by . . ."
Granted ASFRecorderX is only at version 0.6 but I think the developer should look into this. The app is a great idea.

Since the recent release of Flip4Mac's WMV codecs free to allow playback of WMV and ASF in QuickTime (available as a download from the Microsoft website as way of an apology for discontinuing the official WMP player), my interest has been renewed in trying to access various Microsoft video files on the Internet.
I therefore have downloaded and tested this ASFRecorder program.
It does indeed do what it says on the tin, and successfully downloaded files accessed via mms streams. These then played back successfully in WMP for Mac OS X.
BUT!
They do not play back using the free Flip4Mac codec (at all), nor with VLC (rather the audio only plays without the video).
Upon examining the resulting files more closely in QuickTime Pro, it reports the tracks (both audio and video) to be of zero duration. It is possible ASFRecorder is not properly storing the duration in the file it creates (and Windows Media Player is ignoring this).
So overall only a partial success.

Choose MMS Client, the resulting file (after a long trace) will
end up in /, the filename is viewable by scrolling to the top.
