Hollow Ground Developer NoteFixed gamepad screen issue - Version: 1.2.2, 12/24/2004 07:59AM PST

jonasled
Hollow Ground 1.2.2 introduced some major changes by adding graphics hardware acceleration. Some users have reported minor problems with freezes on i.e. the gamepad configuration screen. It is a minor incompatibility with the graphics hardware on some machines. We have now fixed it. Update to 1.2.3 if you experience any problems with 1.2.2. The updater is only 1.1 Mb, but requires at least the full version of 1.1 or later to already be installed. The updater is so far only available on our web site, but the above link and other external links have been re-directed for now to point at the full version of 1.2.3, instead of 1.2.2.

The updated version hangs up when trying to configure the player's controls. It just hangs and then bombs.

This happens in 10.3.5

Hollow Ground ReviewGreat mix of strategy and fun - Version: 1.0.4, 1/18/2004 08:58AM PST

I’m admittedly not in the habit of downloading huge files like this. I’m also often too cheap to register shareware games. Hollow Ground is an exception. This game is well worth the download if you take your time to learn its extensive power-up system, which is at the heart of the strategic side. Besides that it is basically just a straightforward retro style shooter. It is tons of fun though and the graphics, music and sound effects are quite up to date. If you like Gauntlet-style games, you are definitely going to love this one.

Hollow Ground Usage TipUpdater 1.0.4 - Version: 1.0.4, 12/30/2003 07:38AM PST

The updater application does not touch the save files, so it can not wipe them out. There are two different save file formats in Hollow Ground. The format changed with 1.0.2. Starting with 1.0.3 the game application can now read both formats correctly. Users that manually copied their save files from older versions to 1.0.2 where unable to launch saved games and sometimes the save file was overwritten if users ignored the problem and just continued to use the game. Any corrupted save files is related to 1.0.2, not 1.0.4.

We would also like to make sure that everyone knows that we offer free support for installing and running Hollow Ground in our support forum. We also have an extensive FAQ with answers to the most commin questions.

Updating wiped out my saved games. WTF?! What a bunch of BS. I was enjoying this game, but if I have to start over from the beginning every time there's an update, it's simply going into the trash instead. What a waste of time (even moreso than by sheer virtue of its being a time-wasting game to start with, that is.)

Hollow Ground Usage TipFor 10.2 or higher - Version: 1.0.4, 12/28/2003 07:15PM PST

hkim, the game's requirements are 10.2 or higher, so you shouldn't expect this to work on 10.1.5.

Hollow Ground Reviewaddictive zombie frag-fest - Version: 1.0.1, 10/27/2003 02:52PM PST

Normally I don't mess with files this big, having a dialup, but it sounded fun and the reviews were promising. Glad I did, as this is a fun, addictive, gory frag fest. Nothing revolutionary, but a good aggression reliever. I noticed a little slowdown at parts, when the screen fills with baddies, but it was sporadic and never lasted very long. G4-400, 448MB

Hollow Ground ReviewVery nicely made... - Version: 1.0, 10/11/2003 08:54PM PST

...and there are plenty of creatures available to take out some aggression. However, the gameplay gets a little repetitive, and the random levels throws away the idea that games get harder as you progress. I still highly recommend the game for fans of shooters (and maybe strategy).
