Eric's Ultimate Solitaire for OS X, aka Ultimate
Written by Eric Snider (http://www.sniderware.com/)
Designed by Joe Williams (http://www.joedelta.com/)
X Version by Robert Roosevelt
Art by Howard Vives
Weasel's Voice by Derek McCaw
Patterns by Drew Olbrich
----------------
a) Works well on the whole.
b) Unfortunately, Eric's Ultimate Solitaire for OS X doesn't play the QuickTime files from the Ultimate Solitaire "Music" folder, unlike Eric's Ultimate Solitaire v1.3 for Macintosh Operating System 7.5.x through Mac OS 9.2.2 (by Eric Snider)
Why this was removed from the OS X is not known...
Note: Many popular computer card games include and play QuickTime music files - For example: All versions of Freeverse Burning Monkey Solitaire for Mac OS 8.x / Mac OS 9.x.x, and all versions of Freeverse Burning Monkey Solitaire for OS X play QuickTime music files (such as Burning Monkey Jive, Instant Headache, MassiveDuck and Music Data from the Burning Monkey Solitaire "Soundtrack" folders).
c) Note: There is an unfixed-by-Apple OS X audio bug that can cause The Weasel's Voice in Eric's Ultimate Solitaire for OS X to not be audible. The audio bug may also cause an Ultimate Solitaire X v3.0.1 error message:
Sorry, there is not enough memory for Ultimate to run
[Darn]
----------------
OS X audio bug fix:
Under OS X 10.3 or later, the no audio from certain multimedia content issue is caused by some audio applications (including Audacity, Flash Player, Real Player, and VLC Player) that change the computer’s audio settings to a sample rate that is too high for other applications to use.
A solution to solve the Internet movie no sound or audio output is to reset the audio setting in OS X:
1. Open “Audio MIDI Setup” (/Applications/Utilities/), then check the “Audio Output” setting.
2. Change the “Audio Output” setting to 44100.0 Hz.
3) If the Audio Output setting is grayed out or disabled, go to “Properties For” tab in Audio MIDI Setup, and select “Built in Output” or switch the settings back and forth from “Built in Output” your PCI sound card's output (IF you have a computer with PCI slots and IF you are using a PCI sound card).
4. Quit Audio MIDI Setup.
----------------
The OS X audio bug fix also fixes the Eric's Ultimate Solitaire for OS X problem of "insufficient memory" errors on opening.
