Product Description:

Do you have a corrupt hard drive or one that no longer mounts? Are other Mac file recovery utilities failing to even recognize your bad drive? Do you need to recover files that have been deleted? Data Rescue 3 is the best data recovery software on the market for recovering files from a problem hard drive or that have been previously deleted. Data Rescue 3 works when other tools fail and is completely safe to use since it does not attempt any risky repairs to the drive it's scanning. Data Rescue 3 is the same software used by many data recovery services! Data Rescue 3 has saved our customers from having to use a data recovery service, which can cost thousands. You will need to save your recovered files to either an internal or external hard drive (USB or FireWire), removable media device (such as a Zip or MO) or a networked drive. Data Rescue ReviewWorking great, well worth it - Version: 3.0.1, 10/28/2009 08:51AM PST

as usual, their product is working great, just finally upgraded to 3.x from 2 yesterday, already had 2 drives to use it on, so far seems a bit faster, and I like that you can choose which interface you want, "old" style, or the newer more graphical style for selecting disks.

Reasonable cost especially for the tech license when working on customer hard drives each week.

I hadn't actually run into any crashes with 3.0.0, but late yesterday the 3.0.1 update was released to address crashes & stability.

Generally as soon as I know a drive has bad sectors, I use Data Rescue to do the recovery, because it will do multiple attempts of the file (rarely, but sometimes a 2nd or 3rd try actually results in a successful read), and will continue meaning it takes less of my time to recover the files.

I'll post more once I've had to a chance to use it for a couple of weeks, possibly with more difficult drives, the most recent 2 happened to be working fairly well.

Data Rescue CommentaryToo Expensive - Version: 3.0.1, 10/27/2009 04:38PM PST

I guess Prosoft hasn't noticed there's a recession on. I, for one, cannot afford to upgrade from Data Rescue II for $65. While this is a decent discount from the retail price of $99, in my book, in these times, they are both overpriced.
