Guitar Shed CommentaryTuner seems more or less useless - Version: 2.9.9.5, 1/25/2007 10:23PM PST

I only really downloaded this for the tuner. I might be able to make use of some of the rest of it later, but for now, I have to say the tuner is useless. I'm only using it with the internal microphone on my MacBook, which took a bit of fiddling about in the Midi Setup Utility (then the tuner itself must be quit and restarted, something its help dialog fails to mention).

The main "needle" display of the tuner doesn't work - it hovers around at the -50 end of the scale no matter how delicately or roughly you tune. Since this isn't giving you a worthwhile indication of tune, you have to go by either the numbers, which change too rapidly and jumpily to be useful, or by the colour, which is equally erratic.

The programmer needs to a) fix the needle display so it works, and b) put in some sort of damping time-constant so that the thing isn't so jittery. Then it might be OK. Also, a better default configuration would be to use the built-in microphone right from the get-go without any further setup needed - this is how most people are likely to use it initially.

Guitar Shed ReviewTuner still does not work - Version: 2.9.9.5, 10/9/2006 10:57AM PST

The main feature I want to use guitar shed for does not work (never has), with my presonus firebox audio recording interface. It seems there is a bug/problem getting external audio interfaces (not just the firebox) to get recognized by the tuner.

I know they are trying to fix it and get it to work but how hard can it be. Its ridiculous to sell a product that does not work, and its not like I am using some cheapo input device.

Guitar Shed ReviewGig Manager now worse, not better! - Version: 2.9.9.5, 10/8/2006 10:20AM PST

I'm having a hard time understanding why this is such a challenge for the developers. Now, the dates for the gigs don't show up AT ALL in the list, just the venues! It's now totally without worth.

This app has many nice features, but I can't believe that after two years or more, they can't come up with a fix for this. Either get it right, or drop the feature altogether.

Guitar Shed ReviewNice overall, however... - Version: 2.9.8, 4/12/2006 10:42PM PST

It's amazing to me that, after all this time, they still haven't figured out how to sort gigs by date in the Gig Manager. I called this to their attention a couple of years ago when I first purchased Guitar Shed, and when I saw this version with the YYYY/MM/DD format, I figured the problems were finally solved. No dice, though...clicking on the date header has no effect. If you don't add your gigs in strict chronological order, you're screwed, and it makes this module useless.

Slow down feature is nice, though!

I started using this awhile ago and it was good even back in the day. Now with all of the new things and mic tuner I'm one happy camper. Plus I've received lots of free upgrades since I paid and it's getting better with each one. The last version quit a couple times when I renamed the prog but that bug seems to be fixed now [I don't like version numbers on my files]. Not a problem cause it be fixed now. Nice stuff!!

This is one of those programs that is positively needed for the Mac. My pc friends have always had things kind-a like this and I was always jealous. Now I have a better one then all of them so HA-HA-HA. Program-wise this thing is really good. Being a user of the first version the new chromatic tuner is a major-plus.
