CMD-F toggles you both into and out of full screen view, for those who haven't figured out how to escape.
Still doesn't do anything - Version: 1.0, 10/5/2003 08:04AM PST

Since my first post, many positive reviews have popped up, so I took a look at ML again. The arrows on my TiBook doesn't work like other users said. It just beeps and does nothing when I hit any arrow key.
The speed is also not any faster than Preview (10.2.8). Bizarre. I'll try it with an external keyboard later.

Yup, great thing...but I want it to not stop where the folder stops but go on into the next/previous folder...if you se what I mean...and maybe a thumbnail bar of the cached images...would be even more splendid...great idea though, Just the kind of integrated apps I want =)
Just AWESOME

Does EXACTLY what it purports to. Exceptionally fast. The controls are simple, intuitive. I can take a quick scan of photos as fast as I might using the preview pane in the finder... only the images are full size. I love it. Thank you for this excellent tool.
really fast - thank you!

I have been looking for a really fast viewer like that, thank you! I would suggest not to add too many more features because this can only make magic lantern slower.
I found the UI very clever: both right and down arrow keys lead to the next picture; just start with one picture out of a folder and the next pictures are being cachec - that's neat.
Just a small suggestion: I had a hard time getting out of the full screen mode - why not make the esc-key trigger the normal mode?

It's fast and does what it says - Version: 1.0, 10/5/2003 03:09AM PST

Randy: it's much faster to load than Apple Preview, and you don't have to open all the files in a directory to be able to browse through all the files in a directory (unlike Preview). You just open one image in a folder using Magic Lantern, and it will then allow you to go through other neighbouring files by pressing left and right.
I really like it, though it would be more useful if it was a contextual menu item.
It's amusing how many people are releasing fast PDF and image viewers -- just goes to show that people are fed up with waiting 30 seconds for Acrobat to open, and probably about 15 secs for Preview.

Hi, the developer here. I'm still working on documentation, but the general gist of using Magic Lantern is that once you open a file, you can then browse through other images in the same directory by using the arrow keys. page up/page down skips 5 images at a time (although that number will be a preference in the next release) and home/end will take you to the beginning and end of a directory. It's fairly simple, but I ended up writing ML because Preview was driving me nuts when I just wanted to shuffle through image directories.
It works ... I think

It hasn't crashed on me or anything, but what does it do?
Why use this instead of Preview? What advantage does it bring? It looks to me like this is somebody's toy project for learning to program. That's fine but why polute the Mac freeware/shareware domain with useless "apps"?
If I missed something, please correct me.
really great application that allows to flick through images in one folder.
Have problems printing images though. The print dialog just does not want to come up..
Ideas appreciated..
Thanks
