plaintiger
if i *had* a sense of humor, what would i find "funny" about a window with a bunch of changing numbers in it?
does this have anything to do with the fact that i'm running a dual 1.25 GHz G4 and the stuff that changes in the window does so way too fast to be read?
because as it is, watching this app is every bit as "hilarious" as watching a digital stopwatch run.
i actually do have an excellent sense of humor; two of the first words most people use to describe me are "funny" and "witty". but that fact does not help me to see the humor in a bunch of changing numbers on a computer screen.
i'm open-minded though. if anyone can explain to me exactly *what* is even the least bit humorous about this app, i promise to meet them halfway by doing my best to see it.
what, for example, makes this app funnier than Watch It 0.5? or than watching my menubar clock, for that matter (i have "show time with seconds" turned on and my menubar clock *still* consistently fails to elicit so much as a chuckle from me). is this because of something lacking in my basic constitution? i don't think so.
in fact, i worked for years at a software company; every person there had at least one computer on their desk, and i don't recall even once walking by anyone's cube to find them laughing uncontrollably, holding their stomach with one hand and pointing at their menubar clock with the other.
maybe i just worked with a real humorless bunch. we laughed at lots of other things though...

is it because i've taken part in various distributed computing projects for years and the side-splitting hilarity of watching my computer crunch numbers has worn thin?
no, wait...the side-splitting hilarity was never there. so that can't be it.
maybe it's because i never heard Groucho Marx or Rita Rudner or George Carlin or Steve Martin or Robin Williams or Steven Wright or Emo Phillips or the Not Ready For Prime Time Players do a routine that consisted entirely of the rattling off of a bunch of numbers at great speed, so i've just never been exposed to comedy this refined. maybe there's a huge untapped market out there! maybe the developers of this app should do standup! yeah! that's it!
no, wait...
