SubRosaSoft DesktopEarth downloads real time global cloud maps, then superimposes them on the map of your choice (political, geographic, elevation etc...) and sets it as your desktop picture.
If left running it will update this map every 3 hours.
A fascinating toy and useful tool.

I've checked this out years back...but this version just did nothing after the first screen came up to set preferences.

opened application, chose trial, nothing happened....freeze and crash within 3 min.

I tried it in "trial" mode. The app froze within 2 minutes. No thanks.
