iVideo CommentaryExcellent support and a free upgrade for version 3 users! - Version: 4.0, 2/16/2009 01:33PM PST

Just wanted to post a quick note to say that I got in touch with Mike (the developer) and he quickly informed me that the new version is a FREE upgrade for existing purchasers. You can get your license by visiting the help section of the website and entering your e-mail address for lost licenses. If your e-mail address doesn't work just e-mail him and I'm sure he'll get it sorted in no time.

Delighted with this FREE update and the developer's prompt and very-helpful e-mails. Looking forward to get my teeth into this very exciting new version.

iVideo CommentaryDid i say 3 and a half years!? - Version: 4.0, 2/16/2009 11:48AM PST

Bought version 3 back in 2005 and the program didn't get any updates in almost 3 and a half years! I had written it off and put the original app down to a complete waste of money but here we are in 2009 and it looks like the developer has finally given the app the shave and haircut it so badly needed.

Initial impressions are very good. It looks great. It's familiar iTunes like interface is well handled and instantly feels like a proper Apple app. The exporting features are nice and the multiple libraries are also sweet. I really hope the developer continues to support and update the app this time.

I have to say I'm initially hesitant to purchase this. Yes it's only $20 BUT I'm a little disappointed the developer isn't offering some sort of upgrade path from version 3 after abandoning it all those years ago. Even just $5 off to say thanks to those who actually opened their wallets and were then let down for the next 3 and a half years!

The question about Universal has been left unanswered, the last update to this software appears to be 2 years ago, and of course now we have the Leopard question...

Is this software even under active development?
