This is better than sex. Here is an example with a screenshot of an application I made with it.

Pashua ReviewIncredible - Version: 0.9.1, 11/6/2004 07:01PM PST

I can't believe I haven't seen this before! I am a python hacker and have never been satisfied with the cross platform guis for python. they are just not cocoa enough. My projects aren't pyobjc worthy, so until xcode has a decent python integration this is a perfect solution.

I've only played with it a bit so far, but I am very impressed.

Thank you!

Pashua CommentaryIf you're a unix shell oriented type you will love this... - Version: 0.9, 7/14/2004 08:47AM PST

I've been writing unix shell and perl scripts for years as well as some Facespan and applescript but my preferred modus operandi is perl. I think I dream in perl at night. Being able to combine in a matter of minutes a GUI with perl scripts instead of to having "roll your own" user interface through Facespan or some other such GUI builder tool is like manna from heaven.

I can concentrate on the guts of the code instead of making windows behave...I love it.

Pashua ReviewAn all Python users MUST - Version: 0.7, 11/6/2003 01:04AM PST

Use THIS instead of wxwindows if you want simple and FAST UI loading. No multi-platform as wx windows but really fast in OSX. Good job, great app !

Pashua ReviewThe most useful app I've seen for Mac OS X - Version: 0.6.1, 10/23/2003 02:55AM PST

I rated it only 5 stars because I cannot add more!! This is simply mind-blowing. I used it to create a fully automatic mount point creator (Montador 1.0), that you can find here at versiontracker. Without Pashua, it would have been impossible for me to release that little "application".

Pashua ReviewGreat Simple GUI for Simple Scripts - Version: 0.6, 10/17/2003 08:58AM PST

Do you have tons of shell scripts, perl scripts, etc.? Do you need normal, everyday Mac users to run them? You know, the people who wouldn't use a command-line if their lives depended on it? This is the utility for us.

Why do I say us? Because I work in a department that is made up of graphic designers. The textual world of the command-line and a graphic designer just don't tend to mix well. I have several quickie scripts written that they all would benefit from...but they'll never use them if they have to fire up Terminal.app to do so. Pashua has made adding a GUI front end for input to said scripts fast and easy.

What is right about Pashua? It makes it easy to bring up a dialog box with text input fields, radio buttons, check boxes, file selection, combo boxes, and pop-up menus...to get the input that they would otherwise have to enter in the terminal. Basically it makes it easy to make a script look like another Aqua-fied OS X application without having to figure out AppleScript studio.

What's missing from Pashua? The only thing missing from Pashua is pretty minor. It does all it says it will do...but I'm always one to want a little bit more. A quick installer to stick the Pashua application and the Pashua.pm (perl module) where they belong quickly would be nice. Even though the ReadMe is clear enough on where to drag them youself, it'd be nice to have a quickie installer too.

Overall, I give Pashua five stars in all categories. This is an excellent utility that any scripter with a non-CLI-using audience should have in his toolbox.

...could I live without?
A GUI makes a Script usable by everyone running OS X. Very helpful for spreading the Idea of "little do-it-yourself-Programming" and sharing the results. Fun! &thanx!

Ah, I love this program... period. And now even supports radio buttons and menus! And to think this software just went public 3 days ago... I have now created my own front end to curl and have written some shell-script-based hard-drive formatting and imaging tools. (Gotta love dd!) =) I fully recommend this software to anyone and everyone that uses OS-X and some command line tools often, like myself. =P I would really recommend this software. It hasn't crashed, or done anything funky to my system, it just works and does exactly what it says it does. 2 thumbs up for a awesome piece of software!
