Product Description:

Deskfinity is designed to allow you to display the contents of any folder onto your desktop. If your desktop is cluttered with icons for various tasks, Deskfinity lets you create desktop icon sets to suit your workflow needs.

What's new in this version:

  • Filenames are now truncated to one line if the label is positioned on the right and the image is at its minimum size. This allows for a much tighter packing and allows many more items to be displayed on the screen.
  • A newly created folder will be selected and have its name available for editing.
  • The cmd-N shortcut has been added to create a new Finder window.
  • Alias and symbolic link handling has been improved.
  • Editing a filename can now be cancelled by using the escape key and deleting a filename completely while editing will not cause a change in the actual filename.
  • Icons will now be rearranged if necessary after editing a filename.
  • The filename editing field is now placed correctly when the icon labels are positioned on the right.
  • There is now an option to apply the current view options to all desktops in the "View Options" panel.
  • Volumes can now be ejected by choosing "Eject" from the contextual menu, or by dragging the icon to the trash.
  • The "Eject" keyboard shortcut has been changed to match Finder's shortcut.
  • HotKeys are now displayed in the table of desktops.
  • Background image rendering has been improved.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

Deskfinity ReviewBizarre... - Version: 1.0B4, 4/28/2004 02:45PM PST

Steven P. Jobs
It's pretty bizarre that the developers aren't integrating this into Virtual Desktop. It's a pretty obvious fit, especially given the function and name (!) of that product.

And this isn't just a money /greedy developer issue. It's insane that even if I wanted to buy this product, it wouldn't automatically integrate with my Virtual Desktop configuartion.

Codetek creates innovative and well programmed software. However their business model leaves lots to be desired.

I use path finder as well and agree that both products (as well as CVDT) could benefit from some communication between these excellent developers. Great job!

Deskfinity Usage TipDeskfinity and Path Finder - Version: 1.0B1, 9/12/2003 09:51PM PST

dozx
I use Path Finder as my main finder...

my icons remain organized where i put them even after switching desktops with deskfinity and pathfinder gives you a contextual menu that allows you to move files to another location... if I have an item or more i select them then right click and select move to... then move to the new desktop folder i want them on.

the 2 items together are very nice - maybe the 2 developers should team up and see how they can integrate and make the products even better like a-dock and pathfinder do
