D2X (Descent 2) CommentaryWarning ! D2X Menus went black when upgraded to 10.4.3 - Version: 0.2.6.b13, 11/13/2005 01:00PM PST

After I upgraded the D2X menu comes up black. itunes still starts and you can get the game to actually play if you click your mouse on the right part of the black screen, It was working great before I updated. I tunes acts a little funny sometimes repeats the same track and the volume gets turned way down. If you go to sound and play with the music slider you can get the volume back up. Hope this gets fixed because it's grea tto play the game and my joystick works like a charm. Logitec's extreme pro 3d.
I booted off another internal drive that still has 10.4.2 and the same game install runs fine so it definitly has something to do with 10.3.4

This is a great port that shows why Descent is still a fabulous game. Is there a possibility to get more frequent builds? I'm sure the code on CVS is newer, but it's a hassle to have to build it myself.

There's one bug tho. Sometimes the app quits because of a texture overflow. A bit vague, but that's the console message. I guess some textures weren't released?

I've been using d2x for a long time now. Love the old descent games. It's a good quality port to OS X. For those of you calling it a ploy to try to get people to buy the game think of it more like an update for those of us who already have it :-). The only thing I would put on the wishlist is support for audio CD's without going through iTunes. iTunes is a bulky app and kills my 600MHz iBook. I'd love to be able to play D2X on the iBook with music enabled and not have it grind to a hault. But that's me being whiney :-). Good work guys. Keep it up. Thanks for the many more hours of killed time!
