Product Description:

Mac OS X version supports Stripe and Mirror (RAID levels 0 and 1) volumes on any combination of FireWire, ATA, SCSI, USB and Fibre Channel drives.

What's new in this version:

This version introduces a new driver mechanism which always stores two copies of the RAID header information for each volume. In the unlikely event that the RAID header gets corrupted, the driver can now use the backup copy to correctly mount the volume. In addition, this version adds several fixes for problems which our users found during the first few months of using Leopard. This version also improves compatibility with professional applications like FinalCut Pro and Aperture when running Leopard. SoftRAID 3.6.7 further improves the reliability of starting both Intel and PowerPC Macs running Leopard.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.4 or later

SoftRAID ReviewStill a Joke... - Version: 3.6.7, 6/25/2008 08:14PM PST

MonJab

Well, once again SoftRaid fails to deliver RAID5 that has been promised for years now.

But nevermind...
10.6 has ZFS so SoftRaid is finished. (Apple proof!) and I hear ZFS is present in the 10.6 Client Developer Preview released this month also.

The only future path I can see is that SoftRaid dump their core code and keep their GUI for ZFS management.
Otherwise it's good bye SoftRaid and watch your customers drop off as they laugh at your feeble attempts to market against ZFS.

SoftRAID ReviewFantastic, simple and sweet - Version: 3.6.7, 6/25/2008 07:25AM PST

I added two enterprise 1TB drives to my G5. Fired this up and bingo and very fast Mirror RAID array with zero hassle. I have an auto backup and read speed is noticeable improved.
SR is affordable, well supported and very regularly updated. Five Star in my book

This seems like a joke.
OS X already has RAID 0, so what's the point?
If it can't do RAID 5, then it's worthless.
Maybe for an older OS???

I just moved my drives over from a PC server I had running into a G4 I got, but the Adaptec 2410sa won't work on Mac, and there are no SATA SMART RAID Controllers for the Mac.
I had to get a non-hardware RAIS Controller (SIIG) from OWC.
Now, how can I get RAID 5?
Does OS X Server do it?
For now, I will just run unprotected.
