Product Description:

Better interface, faster processing, efficient multi-tasking make it the best of breed DVD-to-MPG tool on any platform for normal users.

Forty-TwoDVD-MPPlus supports transcoding DVDs or DVD-Folders to common MPEG formats such as VCD, SVCD and CVD with the added ability to use the chapter marks from the DVD, automatically even across mulitple output disks. Nothing to type it "just works". Or convert just the "good part" with the Custom Chapter Range option. Your output can also be saved, ready-to-use with the Sizzle DVD authoring suite. Add buttons, custom menu's and chapter markers.

Forty-TwoDVD-MPPlus is a Cocoa app, and uses Unix threading to insure smooth operation, superior multitasking and faster encoding... without terminals popping up all over the place.

What's new in this version:

  • When media is dragged to the dropwell to be converted, an extra scan will be performed to detect the Title track with the most content. This is *usually*, but not always, the main movie, or in the case of dvds with episodes, the "Play All" Tile. Click the View button to be sure
  • Fixes bug reported by some users pertaining to broken/incomplete 925 mode transcodes.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3.9
  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2.8 or higher
BSD subsystem (installed with Mac OS X by default)
G3 Blue and White is not supported.

Forty-Two DVD-MP Plus ReviewWhat crap - Version: 2.4.4, 11/5/2006 04:24AM PST

Amavida
Relies on two FREEWARE utilities

1) VLC mdeia player

2) Missingmediaburner

And to rub salt into the wound missingmediaburner has gone the way of the dodo bird & so this commercial app that relies on it just leaves out that functionality... *cough*

Forty-Two DVD-MP Plus CommentaryPathetic version control - Version: 2.4.4, 9/19/2006 10:41AM PST

tlmurray--2008
Perhaps six months ago I wrote them about the same issues below. I was sent an attachment with the latest version (note the last bullet) and a promise to fix the site; but they still have not addressed these issues. To see what I mean, take a look the product page, then note the following:
  • The gray version at the left says 2.3.2.
  • The current version at the right says 2.3.4
  • The download you get with the top link is filename 232, but a Get Info says 2.3.1
  • The download you get with the bottom link is filename 233 -- it expands to 244 -- and its version number is 2.3.1
  • An “About” of the one I already have says 2.3.1 (2.4.3) -- whatever THAT is supposed to mean
  • Dragging the result of the bottom button's download over the one they sent me says mine is newer, yet mine is six months old
Fortunately their software seems to work. Had I known about this numbering fiasco I would never have purchased it. How can developer who has such shoddy version control make reliable software???

Forty-Two DVD-MP Plus CommentaryRnSK Replied Quickly - Version: 2.4.4, 1/30/2006 12:52AM PST

iMarc
Just an FYI... I emailed RnSK at their suggested email addresses regarding my previous registration. They replied back in less than three hours and included an updated, functioning reg number for 42-MP (on a Sunday night). That's a fast response in my book.

I had asked about the problems with their support. They acknowledged there have been difficulties and that they are trying to fix them.

This was my experience. Yours may vary but I'd suggest emailing them again if you've had previous problems. They do seem to be trying.
