ABDialer Review5 years I was waiting for this - Version: 2.1.1, 10/2/2009 10:49PM PST

Finally, the hibernation is over, and I was even upgraded for free. The new version works perfectly on my iMac and MacBook Pro, both under OSX 10.5.8. Simple, tenable, and elegant. In my opinion, the best in its category.

ABDialer CommentaryABDialer not working on G4 under 10.5.2 - Version: 1.1.2, 4/15/2008 01:13PM PST

Just a warning -- I've been using ABDialer for years, then upgraded my G4 Quicksilver to 10.5.2 and BuddyPop no longer works. The Apple Internal Modem does not dial (there's a discussion thread about the issue at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=6935046). I know the modem is OK because other comms programmes like ZTerm operate normally. So it is a software issue -- either with 10.5.2 or ABDialer (or both).

I've emailed Macron twice over the last 3 weeks but have not received any response. Like others here I assume ABDialer is no longer supported.

ABDialer CommentaryWhy no AddressBook plug-in? - Version: 1.1.2, 7/6/2004 10:26AM PST

Stone Software wrote an AddressBook plug-in to print envelopes. This allows to use the AddressBook contextual menus (you get them by clicking on the labels of an address item e.g. "work" or "home") to print envelopes.

Bluetooth capable phones can already be dialed that way. What Apple has not done is to allow dialling POTS lines via the modem that way. What I'm waiting for is someone to write an AddressBook plug-in that does just that, preventing me from having to run another app.
