Totally worthless. Stagnant, buggy. The features that it does have (not enough) are buggy. Filetransfers doesn't work, searching in the channel list causes a crash. I got screen garbage with controls drawing on top of each other in the preferences.
Two years since last activity ? Another lost IRC client. There's been so many over the years.

Used to be worthwhile. Now it's a dead program.

Avoid.
It crashes instantly every single time I open the preferences on my Intel Mac. Doesn't crash on my regular Mac, but the UI is so ..amateurish... I've tried emailing the developer but the address bounces back.
This program is abandoned, and can be considered Dead.
Avoid.
Look at modern alternatives like Ircle, Snak, Colloquy.

Contrary to the other user comments, I have to say that Conversation, by its principal design/logic, is the best (Freeware) IRC client, which I ever used on the Mac!
Conversation works quite simple for new users, but at the same time also allows pro users to issue their text based IRC commands, as they are used to.
CONCERNING THE STALLED DEVELOPMENT:
- In 10.4 on my Intel MacBookPro it still "sort of worked". It was already slow due to the Rosetta (Intel -> PPC) Code translation, and sometimes crashed.
- Meanwhile, 2009-09 with OS 10.5 it practically does not work anymore!
- In 2006-03 the author replied to an inquiry email, stating, that he is working on a version 3.
- I have sent him another email now in 2009-09, and hope for a reply!
