WordNet, largely because Nisus Thesaurus DOES NOT function well as a thesaurus. It's focus seems to be on dictionary definitions, with a de-emphasis of other lexical aspects of English. NT has a nice interface, but it fails in terms of thoroughness as a thesaurus.

I was re-introduced to this when I downloaded Nisus Writer Express. It's a great thesaurus. I especially like the "more detail"/"more general" options

It does what it supposed to do, and does it well. The iterface is intuitive and unobtrusive. It's rock-solid stable. It's free.
