Product Description:
SilverFast SE is a powerful solution from LaserSoft Imaging which combines the best of both worlds: high-end imaging technology for low-end digital scanners for a very low cost. SilverFast SE is designed to work with most of the Epson scanners.
Images will especially benefit from SilverFast's intelligent auto-adjust and LAB-based unsharp-masking, which does not sharpen the color noise of single channels, hence avoiding the extra noise. In addition as special Multi-Sampling function is reducing the noise in dark areas of the scan. There are many of the marvelous highlights of the full SilverFast Ai, such as:
SilverFast SE's ScanPilot guides the novice user through the optimum steps for brilliant images. SilverFast can also be upgraded to SilverFast Ai Standard with SilverFast IT8-Calibration and JobManagement. This allows batch correction and processing on the fly.

What's new in this version:
- BUGFIX:Auto-Frame: Automatic frame detection for 90 or 270 degrees rotation selected an scan area too small - fixed.
- General: Using the fine rotation and adding a 90 degree rotation by clicking the densitometer rotation button, resulting file was corrupted - fixed.
- General: Changed the way the scan frames are shown in preview.
- General: Photoshop (or other apps using the SilverFast Photoshop plug-in version, incl. the SF_Launcher) could crash after a batch scan - fixed.
- General: Fix for a rare zooming problem when switching between transparency and reflective mode while in zoomed view.

it's only me
Buying scanning software (SE) that only scans at less than 48 bits with a scanner that supports 48 bits isn't worth even $49.00. You're better off with the Ai version (at $225.00) or just buy Vuescan instead. I don't know why Silverfast even produces the SE versions with high bit scanners. A waste of time, IMHO.
