Use Apple OS updater and it will download to your system if your system needs it, It is that easy, no problems with it.

Apple document http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3174 says:
"Products Affected: MacBook (13-inch, Aluminum, Late 2008), MacBook Pro (15-inch, Late 2008)"
Yet, a run of Software Update on my C2D 24" iMac also indicates this updater is required.
A version check does indeed show the "older" versions on my iMac, but were I install this update, would there be a benefit? Or worse, might this be a detriment?
