RarMe ReviewDoes not seem to work and not totally freeware - Version: 0.5, 4/8/2006 06:54PM PST

You must install rarlabs shareware or it won't work at all. Not freeware.

Even after installing 3.51 rar rarlabs file in the correct place inside of RarMe, it does not compress files. It runs in the terminal and then errors and does not create the rar file. Using process in terminal setting I get the error Cannot open /Users/xxx/Desktop/testfile.txt
Creating archive /Users/xxx/Desktop/test.rar in terminal. WARNING: No files Using Processs in RarMe setting I get an AppleScript error dialog saying cannot open.

I tried several different files, but it won't work. Does it really work in Tiger?

this seems ok. contrary to a previous comment Gumby does indeed make .rar files also (besides unraring them), you just use the option key on the gumby rar window to change it from process to create. several Gumby windows operate in this option manner.

Gumby has only a Unrar Extractor and a RAR Checker not a RAR compressor. It's a great software though and so are RarMe : )

a program called Gumby (which is freeware and is great) has been raring and unraring files for 2 years now.

it's drag and drop and auto-detects rar files.

folks, I am urgently looking for a .rar decoder having found a lot of rar-compressed audio files on the net. Any hint where one is hiding? Thanx in advance.

RarMe CommentaryGood start, but not there yet - Version: 0.3, 8/28/2003 09:29AM PST

Looks, feels, and operates like a product in development - which is good because it needs improvement. It should definitely support drag and drop, and perhaps even a contextual menu like StuffIt. Furthermore, launching the terminal to execute the commands is hokey and ugly.
