But such a device will never know enough artists to be perfect. On top of that, no two people have the same musical taste, EVEN if they like many of the same bands. Artificial Intelligence doesn't exist yet kids, wait 20 years.
Cute, and *almost* terribly useful

I was surprised at how many artists it recognized, just from playing with it for a few minutes. There are some pretty obvious holes in its database, i.e. it didn't connect Luna with Galaxie 500 and vice versa. It has potential though. I would like to see it integrated with www.allmusic.com.
Interesting...

I need to move beyond the mainstream with my collection.... but this tool won't help. For example, I type in "Johnny Cash" and I get "Radiohead", "Pink Floyd" and "Elvis" among others... So I guess "Weezer" is more similar to "Johnny Cash" than Wilco or Springsteen... I really like the idea. It is well written. It just doesn't do what it was made to do. Type in a few artists and you would think that Nirvana and U2 were related to nearly every modern artist. I suspect relying on music-sharers is not a good way to go if you want to broaden your horizons. (I typed in Kevin Bacon and got no hits... guess he's not connected to everyone after all.)
