iTunes Track is an app that displays a floating window above all others to display the currently playing track from iTunes. You can set its transparency, size and update interval.

nice, but it would be even nicer if it could be locked to the desktop, or at least be told to hide behind other apps. best one i've found so far tho

This app is exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure that you could put more functionality into it, but I persoanlly don't see a reason to. It sits right where I want it to, show the info the way I want it to and I can change tracks with my keyboard so I don't even need to mouse down and right click or anything. Awesome.
