Product Description:

NetScrape can find all the images on a given website, download them, and present thumbnail and full-sized views for you to browse.

If you like images on the web, you'll like NetScrape. It is page-sucking web spider, surgically attached to an "aqua-licious" image thumbnailer and viewer. In this regard, it's a lot like Frankenstein - and he's pretty cool, right? Give NetScrape a URL, and it will "scrape" all of the images from the site; feed it some keywords, and it will Google™ you some relevant images in no time flat. You can configure NetScrape to ignore images under a certain size or of the wrong type, to stay on a particular site or wander the web, and even specify how quickly NetScrape should do its work.

What's new in this version:

Version 1.1 adds support for Panther, as well as two frequently requested features: arrow key navigation of thumbnails and user-specified download directory.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.1 or higher

This program stinks

No support for authentication

Paying for the shareware gets no response from the creator other than a friendly email, no real solution offered. Try Site Sucker instead

I've used Pandora (formerly Netscrape) for research purposes with great success. I've never experienced the hanging problems or crashes I read of in earlier reviews. I think it's key to play around with search terms, since that will impact on results very specifically. When I've scraped individual URLs, the program was quite thorough. Sometimes it does appear to halt arbitrarily, when one might expect that more material would be forthcoming from the Netverse, but what does get downloaded is almost always sufficient for my purposes, at least. It's a lovely program.
