Good alternative to Tube TV

I've found that my copy of Tube tv doesn't work anymore despite re-installing many times. Since it hasn't been updated for ages, I figure it's time to look elsewhere. This does a great job and seems to be very stable, although it doesn't appear to be able to convert you video files for ipod etc. This isn't really a problem since quicktime, iTunes and many other software packages will do that for you. So all in all, this is quick, easy, thorough and a great app
Best freeware app I've used

Excellent app for downloading YouTube vids in HD, MP4 or FLV. Just perfect and worked on vids that didn't work using the "Safari method". Thank you!
Didn't work for me - Version: 2.4.1, 9/5/2009 08:42PM PST

Mactubes opened fine on my mini with snowlep but if there was a way to enter data into the downloads menu as the very scanty documentation instructed, I couldn't figure it out. Copying and pasting URLs didn't work. The downloads menu was like an impregnable jpeg. Dead.
Tried youtubedownloader instead and love it.

For Mac users still on ppc this is damn near essential!
Flash player on YouTube takes up all my cpu and constantly skips frames. As a temporary fix I got a QuickTime player bookmarklet to play some of the HQ videos with Quicktime which worked pretty well except not all videos were available like this, and of course, having to click it every sodding time was a pain.
Now I can just browse within this app (much quicker than doing it through YouTube) and get a decent quality mp4, all for keeps!
Only thing I would say is that after switching to grid view the buttons disappear, but still work. Bizarre. Just one bug, it can slide :)

Was looking for a good YouTube downloader that would do bulk and rename the dl'ed file to the title listed in YouTube. KeepVid.com works, but requires you to do WAY to many steps per dl, and the named files are all movie.mp4 or .flv. I wanted "How To Remove Warts From Your Anus.mp4" instead. A few things that are lacking from this app, queue feature that allows selection and dl'ing of 100s of videos, currently you have to select and right click and select the quality of DL you want. Should allow you to 'get best quality' or 'get lowest quality' in preferences. Also, this application should be expanded to work with multiple sites, like Expert Village. And finally it should allow multiple target folders for download depending on different criteria, or attributes of the videos (author, key words in meta data, so forth).
Good start, can easily be expanded to become much more useful of a tool for the above average user/consumer with little time on the developer's side for effort.

This software works Great and makes it very convenient to find video content and view it, or store it right within this application.
You can create video play lists or download content for off line viewing,
I Love It!!

Good, simple search function that returns lots of results. Easy navigation of results. The MP4 conversion feature is a real winner. MacTubes definitely beats the Safari & Perian workaround, albeit limited to YouTube.
This is THE ONE!

Have been frustrated with every other app out there for months, until we found THIS one: it not only allows a user to download a video, you can choose FLV, or MP4 (which is Quicktime friendly). There are a few settings that can be adjusted, the interface is user-friendly and the search/play/download environment ROCKS! I highly recommend this as THE ONE app you'll use again and again, for all YouTube video DL purposes... within TWO minutes we were happily searching, DL'ing, playing, YouTubes to our hearts' content...
TWO THUMBS UP!

Tubesock was causing me nothing but frustration. This works. Plain and simple. Thank you for making this available!
