Text from Developer's web Site:

Transparent does no longer work on Mac OS X 10.3 as Apple fixed the security hole.

etgeek comment:
This also holds true for several other Transparent screen savers listed on versiontracker.

Hopefully some updates will be coming down the pipe soon!!

Transparent Usage Tiphi - Version: 1.0, 12/7/2004 02:20PM PST

for those who want a fade that is more than 10 percent you can edit the source.

in the BasicTransparent.m file change the .1 to .whatever in the lines:

if ([win alphaValue]!=0.1)
[win setAlphaValue:0.1];

i know this is not practical for most, but it took me all of 30 seconds to edit, compile and install, and this is before i figured out what to edit.

Transparent Reviewuhhhhh Dude - Version: 1.0, 7/28/2003 07:13PM PST

mr tew
It's better than the Apple dimming because it locks the screen. In fact that's the whole point of this NOT 'pointless' app. Did you even read the description, let alone try it before reviewing it? Duh?

Transparent CommentaryMore useless software for built-in OS X feature? - Version: 1.0, 7/28/2003 05:28PM PST

Edit_Dude
What makes using this a better alternative to simply deactivating OS X's screen effects and enabling the monitor dim setting?

Transparent Commentaryagreed . . . change dim setting - Version: 1.0, 7/28/2003 01:46PM PST

Like Bingo!, I'd like my display to dim a bit more. I really like the ability to see what continues to work away in the background. 40% would be great, and would save more electricity needed by the system.

Transparent ReviewNice, but... - Version: 1.0, 7/28/2003 10:29AM PST

Bingo!
Why not turn those three screensavers (transparent, white and black) into one... where you can set the transparency. I think -10% is too little. I'd like -50% or more.

Five stars for crossing a conceptual Rubicon nobody else could notice. Ok, it's not in the same league as MySQL, but it does do a neat little trick you didn't know you wanted done until you saw it done. This works well with Apple's builtin screen dimming (as sleep time approaches), too.
