Adobe Contribute CS4 ReviewContribute connectino problems everywhere - Version: 4.1.0.2867, 10/2/2007 12:32PM PST

Using the latest version of Contribute CS3 (v4.1) on PC and Mac platforms - generates lots of random errors with users connections. Roles continually returned invalid when users try to access the site. Lots of problems documented on Adobe's forums, but very little help delivered directly from Adobe - no authorized reps lurking the forums to provide help, etc... VERY bad support experiences. I would NOT recommend this product, as the problems I've experienced have been randomly occurring, difficult to replicate and the solutions are never the same twice.

The fact that Adobe has almost no presence on the forums .leaves me to believe that they don't see a long life for this product, themselves.

After several phone calls back and fourth to Adobe... I've come to learn that Adobe does not support flashpaper technology in the latest version of contribute for OSX.

Yes. It was in Version 3.0. They decided to remove it for version 4.0. No, it doesn't make any sense. Am I pissed at Adobe? You bet.

Adobe Contribute CS4 CommentaryNo UB and not much of an upgrade - Version: 4.1.0.2867, 10/7/2006 05:42AM PST

V3.1 is unbelievably slow on my Quad Core G5. This 'upgrade' offers little for $79.00 and not go UB at this stage is unforgivaeable

I don't use Contribute enough to justify the $79 upgrade price, certainly not before it goes Universal, as it presumably will when CS3 comes out.

Installing the 3.11 update requires you to re-enter your registration number. However, at least for me, after installing the update, my registration number was no longer accepted.

Adobe Contribute CS4 ReviewContribute- nonprofit users get it for 20 dollars - Version: 3.1, 10/14/2005 11:46PM PST

I've used it a little to update our nonprofit organization's website, created with Dreamweaver by volunteer professionals. I like it a lot, easy to use.

We got our copy for $20 from Techsoup.org. Here's the link:
http://www.techsoup.org/stock/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=TechSoupMain&category%5Fname=Macromedia&product%5Fid=G%2D3085&Cat1=Macromedia&CatCount=1

My price rating is based on $20. I'd pay $100 for it, happily.

Adobe Contribute CS4 CommentaryWRONG PRICE listed at VersionTracker - Version: 3.1, 6/28/2005 04:41PM PST

WRONG PRICE listed at VersionTracker
Everywhere I check the thing costs about $150.00
I think it would be much smarter if they charged more like $65.00 anyway... their sales would balloon as more web dev clients choose to use it instead of having the dev update the site. $100 wasn't too bad, but $150 is going to turn off more than a few clients "contributing" to many lost sales for Adobe/Macromedia.

Adobe Contribute CS4 ReviewSlow and clunky - Version: 3.1, 5/13/2005 07:05PM PST

I had read some encouraging comments about Contribute, but now that I have tried it, I suspect those commentators were encouraged because there was nothing better to compare it with, and there should be. Like,a Model T Ford would be really impressive if one had never driven a 2005 Mustang. Or BMW or whatever your vice is. Also, it crashed on me and disconnected from the website, when I tried to add a page. Maybe I advanced the spark too far.
