This new version (2.x) fixes the installer issues and can now be dragged and dropped it seems.

SerGen CommentaryCan't evaluate! - Version: 2.1, 5/31/2004 03:19PM PST

It's a nice idea to have software that manages key generation, maintaining a database of users and all that, however I can't evaluate this software as it is.

The most important part of evaluating a software license key generator is being able to see how to integrate license keys into an application. The difficult part is working out how to verify license keys. This must be done using an SDK that is not provided with the demo. It would have been nice to see this included.

The method by which these keys are generated (and verified) is also not immediately obvious, and this too is important. If the keys generated are not done in a secure fashion then they aren't really very useful.

This could be a really useful tool, and when I saw it I was hopeful since I am currently in need of exactly such a tool, but for now I think I'll do key generation myself.

I didn't even finish the installation process. To be honest, I was spooked off because the installer is the heavy-duty system file altering type that requires a restart, not just a drag-the-app Disk Copy type. Add that to the fact you're first forced to agree to pay $11 if you use the program. Wow. You've got to be kidding.

Uhhh... no thanks. I can write my own simple AppleScript algorithm to generate registration numbers based on any number of parameters.
