Product Description:

GPSNavX is the solution for the boater that wants to take the Macintosh aboard for real-time display of position on full color marine Softcharts and BSB raster charts. Just plug your GPS into your Macintosh and watch as your boat moves along in real-time, plotting a track behind the boat and logging your historic position on a digital chart. GPSNavX is loaded with many features. GPSNavX is also right at home for planning trips and charting out new destinations. A GPS is not required to work with charts.

What's new in this version:

  • "Color..." on the Track Menu let's you choose the color of any new track data created whether from the GPS or imported.
  • "WGS84" works for Softcharts also. When "WGS84" is enabled, charts which are not using the WGS84 datum are calibrated such that they are.
  • New Route Tab in Chart Settings shows the Distance and Time To Go to each waypoint in the route.
  • The active waypoint will be shown in RED in the proximity and routes tab, and the List Charts By drop-down list in the Chart List window.
  • Charts which are smaller then the currently opened chart window will automatically zoom to Fit In Window.
  • When "Repeat" in enabled in the GPS Settings drawer, any active waypoint will be created (every 5 seconds) in the repeated NMEA stream ($GPAPB, $GPBWC, and $GPXTE). This allows an autopilot to steer to the active waypoint (including those in a route). These created NMEA sentences will also be shown in the monitor drawer (highlighted in Yellow text).

GPSNavX CommentaryDoes not export to receiver??? - Version: 4.90, 2/24/2008 09:01AM PST

My read of this software is it a good mapping package for use on a Mac. However, it will not export to a receiver.

From my point of view (marine use) this makes it a non-starter. No matter how nice the UI is why in the world buy something that is essentially a standalone app? I would have a Garmin handheld that can't be supported with this app, a Mac laptop to run the app and a win machine to support the handheld.

MacGPS Pro can do both. I'm not a MacGPS Pro user so no plug intended.

GPSNavX ReviewBest of Best - Version: 4.50, 2/9/2007 08:04AM PST

Have used GPSNavX on my Pismo and PPC G5 20", this is the only navigational software to use on your boat. Easy to use and set up, with very fast e-mail troubleshooting and question answering from developer. Best of all you can't beat the price. The average boater will never use all the features of Nobletec, and the price, wow! GPSNavX kicks Nobletec's butt. Yes Nobletec is a PC software but now that you can use it on your Intel Mac, why would you. When your PC boating buddy cries about the constant crashing, just laugh or tell him to switch to a Mac with GPSNavX.

Have used for about a year now. Worked on my PBG3 up to and including my dual core G5. Used a GlobalSat USB receiver until I recently bought a Magellan eXpolorist 600. It didn't work at first so I emailed the developer and he had a new version of GPSNavX out in under two days!
Very Good Work! Thank you.
