Product Description:
GPSNavX is the solution for the boater that wants to take the Mac aboard for real-time display of position on full color marine Softcharts and BSB raster charts. Just plug your GPS into your Mac and watch as your boat moves along in real-time, plotting a track behind the boat and logging your historic position on a digital chart. GPSNavX is loaded with many features. GPSNavX is also right at home for planning trips and charting out new destinations. A GPS is not required to work with charts.
What's new in this version:
- As new Track Records are added, they will be kept visible in the Track window.
- Dragging a track to a Finder folder will export the tracks to a GPX file. "Position" Format has been moved from the "View" menu to the GPSNavX Preferences "Units" dialog.
- KML (Google Earth) routes can be imported via the "From File.." "Transfer" menu item on the "Routes" menu.
- "Cardinal Mark" icons for waypoints.
- A BZ2 file (which contains a GRIB file) can be opened from the "Open GRIB..." menu item on the "Weather" menu.
- "Auto Next" on the "Route" menu will default on, when the "Goto" button on the "Routes" window is selected.

The Boys
Have used GPSNavX on my Pismo and PPC G5 20", this is the only navigational software to use on your boat. Easy to use and set up, with very fast e-mail troubleshooting and question answering from developer. Best of all you can't beat the price. The average boater will never use all the features of Nobletec, and the price, wow! GPSNavX kicks Nobletec's butt. Yes Nobletec is a PC software but now that you can use it on your Intel Mac, why would you. When your PC boating buddy cries about the constant crashing, just laugh or tell him to switch to a Mac with GPSNavX.

Have used for about a year now. Worked on my PBG3 up to and including my dual core G5. Used a GlobalSat USB receiver until I recently bought a Magellan eXpolorist 600. It didn't work at first so I emailed the developer and he had a new version of GPSNavX out in under two days!

From my point of view (marine use) this makes it a non-starter. No matter how nice the UI is why in the world buy something that is essentially a standalone app? I would have a Garmin handheld that can't be supported with this app, a Mac laptop to run the app and a win machine to support the handheld.
MacGPS Pro can do both. I'm not a MacGPS Pro user so no plug intended.
