More than an answering machine, and built from the ground up to harness the power of Mac OS X, PhoneValet includes all the hardware and software you need to get more out of your existing telephones:
- Voice Mail: A professional image... 24 x 7: PhoneValet helps you to look your best even when you can't make it to the phone. PhoneValet can handle all your lines at the same time and has multiple mailboxes!
- Call Recordings: Know what you said, and when: Do you prefer to focus on conversation rather than note-taking? Do you ever need an exact record of what you said on the phone? Record both sides of a conversation to an audio file on your hard disk for later reference.
- PhoneValet's call log is a permanent, multi-line call history. It's a searchable and exportable list of your inbound and outbound calls along with accurate timing. PhoneValet even logs hand-dialed calls on extension phones!
- Call in and control your Mac from away. You can cause it to perform an action, play you an audio file over the telephone, or speak text to you as it carries out your request. Use it to interface with your X-10 system, restart processes... the sky's the limit!

What's new in this version:
- Call Trees: Selecting an option on a menu can take the caller to a new menu, making it easy to create a whole tree of options and choices. Make as many menus as you like, as deep as you want. Helps you guide callers to the right person or department the first time, saving you time and money.
- Call Completion Technology: PhoneValet's patent-pending technology lets callers who reach voice mail pick the person or department they need. It's an automated attendant on your existing lines with no rewiring.
- Advanced Address Book Integration: PhoneValet looks up callers in the Address Book of the currently logged in user (if any) for customized announcements, call logging and voice dialing. PhoneValet's Phonebook continues to be available, and is still recommended for Macs where many users share the computer.
- Voice mail overrides: A completely different set of voicemail messages and choices can be set up, selected by time of day and/or by line. Treat callers differently on your home/business lines, or play special announcements after hours and at lunch.

PhoneValet doesn't work anymore so the developer sees an opportunity to gouge users AGAIN with an "upgrade fee." These people have no shame. We have ONE. We talked of purchasing a dozen to cover many stations. Not a chance. The vendor's short term thinking loses them sales everyday.

This is a pretty powerful combination of a simple hardware device and sophisticated software. The developer doesn't deserve lazy and damaging comments like the one posted by Brass Hammer. It's a solid product that works exactly as advertised.

What the hell is this company doing selling "upgrades" to their software? The software primarily fixes bugs - in other words, pay the upgrade fee and maybe the hardware will work the way you though you were getting when you paid for it before.
This product is a RIPOFF.
