Product Description:

Aion [Aion - The Phoenician god of time] - is an application that lets You keep track of current time in chosen time zones. You can choose from the basic version (NSStatusItem) or an extended version (NSMenuExtra).

Any comments will be highly appreciated.

What's new in this version:

  • When the computer is awaken from sleep Aion will automatically refresh the time zones
  • The internet version checking function has been rewritten and it's now threaded, so it doesn't hang up Aion when it's starting. Also different languages will produce info on new versions in the active language AION is using
  • The installed time zones table has alternating row colors (iTunes style)
  • The time zone list will scroll properly (after adding new time zones the installed time zones table does not update itself until the application restart)
  • The Internet Version checking preference pane has been altered. The info on a new version will now be displayed in a new window, leaving preferences to their primary function: setting behaviour
  • The text boxes in the time calculator has been changed, so it is now impossible to enter wrong data into it (ie. putting alpha characters instead of numeric), also the numeric stepper works correctly now
  • Changed a little the add token sheet
  • AION has the option to add itself to Login items so that it loads automatically each time user logs in
  • New way to enter dates in the time calculator. AION now imitates date picker (known from MacOS 10.4), so there's no more manual date entering
  • Time calculator reloaded. Now it uses the date picker for setting dates and includes fixed time text boxes, where you won't be able to enter non-time characters (alpha characters)
  • Added French localization (also info on new versions will be in french too)

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

Hello,
there is a beta version of AION 1.8. It is Leopard (10.5) only. For now the "time calculator" is gone, but will be there in the final version. If you are willing to test it, you can download it from:

Best Regards,

Aion ReviewThe best.... - Version: 1.7.2, 4/2/2008 01:29PM PST

I was sad when Aion disappeared from 10.4.11 after the recent security update and delighted to find an update so quickly.

Aion is the least obtrusive way to keep track of multiple time zones when working with people from different continents. The basic version does everything I need, especially with the customization options.

Looking forward to the Leopard version.

AION 1.8 is coming although it may seen some time. It has been rewritten for most part but there are still modules that need work in order to function in the new enviroment. I know it has been a while since AION was updated, but without the new version it will be hard to put in any new functionality.
