Poisoned was a total dog for me for a while, but still got consistent (if not slow) downloads.
Two things help d/l speed (and network connectivity - Ares and OpenFT in particular)
1) Port Forwarding. Set it up in your router / modem, or network preferences in your using OS X's software to connect. You have to look at each protocols settings in the preference pane the find the values (or set ones you prefer).
2) Sharing. Set a folder with a bunch of media (MP3s, Movies, .dmgs) on the top level and top level only, add this as one of your shared directories. It'll take a whole to catalouge, but connecting to all the networks and some download speeds (and d/l reliability) will improve.
Now, if the developer can fix the OpenFT engine's occasional total-utter-crashes and the odd RWoD (Rainbow Wheel of Death) that results in a force quit and a preference purge then this'd be a pretty sweet, free, alpha release. And maybe that universal thing as well.

Finally had an update!

...but it still needs work. The developer was away for over a year. It needs to be updated to a Universal Binary.
Piece of crap

What used to bo a very nice application in previous versiones has become the most useless piece of software I've in a long time. It constantly crashes, can't connect and doesn't find much. It's only a PPC, not an Intel and very soon will become obsolete if they don't release a Universal Binary update.
Poisoned the most reliable downloadprogram for the Mac

In the past two years I've been trying out several downloading programs. I first tried Poisoned, which is always reliable, does not get stuck, never influences the OSX in a bad way - is good to download MP3 and clips, but there are much less movies to find, however. I also tried Limewire and Acqlite - of which Acqlite is the fastest and especially finds a lot movies and downloads fast. But it influences the other software too much, crashes a lot and after all my HD was so disturbed I gad to replace it. So now I returned to Poisoned which is absolutely the most reliable one, gives info about good or suspected downloads. Its not fast, but easy to use. Only think I do not understand is that from the four networks it uses, two many times do not start-up: FastTrack and mostly Ares,
Gnutella and OpenFT always do. After all: until now Poisoned it the best and most safe. And totally FREE!

I've had poisoned for two years now and I've had few problems, or if I did have them, they were solved quickly. But now I just do not seem to get it right. If I click the icon button, the poisoned sign jumps up and down (as any other icon on the dock will), but it will not open. It just keeps on jumping. A few times it opens, but then it just does not open properly. I get the icon that I should wait, but poisoned never connects to the program.
I checked EVERYTHING. it's not my internet connection, I downloaded poisoned again for several times, I tried restarting my computer, shutting it off and starting it again. nothing will help. I can not even click anything in the program itself, I just get that color circle spinning (that waiting-thing, have no idea how u call it in english) and nothing happens.
can anyone help?? I'm kind of desperate over here :-S

I guess it must still be a beta. I start downloads but then after a while they stop and never resume. even after a restart, i can lose the initial download and it is trying to start over.
I really hope this gets sorted. It would be my first choice if it worked almost flawlessly, but this dormant waiting is a pain.
It would also be good to have a boolen filter that blocks a lot of the advert stuff e.g. 'NOT buy'.
Here's hoping.

I was just using the previous version (.519) a minute ago with 27,000 users showing. Now with .519.1, 695,000 users are showing. They fixed something, don't let the .1 upgrade fool you.
Great to have Poisoned back on track

I've been using poisoned for a year, just about when it was not being developed anymore. Things broke and some manual changes required to get it somewhat working. But having an official release now that has everything working is fantastic. It's a very clean program and it works great. Kudos to everyone who contributed

Didn't work - OS X 10.2.8 - Version: 0.519.1, 8/8/2006 03:20PM PST

After downloading, clicked on icon - started to open then Poisoned immediately shutdown. This happens when I try to open an OS 10.3.7 or higher application under OS 10.2.8. Notes said this was for 10.2.0 and higher. ?????
