Product Description:

With SimpleTimer you can quickly create timers and reminders. You can create reminders for other people too: employees, friends, and others (provided they have SimpleTimer installed on their computers). SimpleTimer is free software under the GNU GPL. Source code is freely available.

List of Features
  • One window for every timer.
  • Set up the entire behavior of the timer just like you would do with a "material" timer.
  • Open as many timers as you desire.
  • Each timer can have its own individual messages, sound, URLs.
  • Save your frequent actions and URLs.
  • Able to read any standard sound format (MP3, AIFF, SND, NeXT, etc.).
  • Possibility to add a warning signal before the actual ending. (Useful for watching those eBay auctions!)
  • Ability to program cyclic timers, with a custom repeat cycle (eventually after a specified date).
  • Save timer in autostart mode.
  • Summary panel that shows the status of every opened timer. (This panel will be improved in the following releases, as of version 0.4 is very basic.)
  • Hardly any CPU usage: SimpleTimer doesn't keep your CPU busy, and uses a small amount of memory.
  • Being a native Cocoa application, SimpleTimer blends nicely into the traditional "Aqua" user experience.

What's new in this version:

  • Added sound option.
  • Added warning option before actual timer ending.
  • It is now possible to save URLs and messages directly from the timer window using the additional "Save" buttons. The buttons can also optionally update the user preferences as well as the individual timer.
  • Changed file format.
  • Other UI improvements.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

For a simple timer app this product has a lot of really nice touches like "snooze" (repeat after HMS time) etc. Also great that you can choose your own mp3 alarms. Feature request... could the reminder pop-up have a setting to automatically be dismissed after HMS amount of time instead of requiring a keypress? Especially if the "repeat after" is activated. Great product at the best price. :-)

SimpleTimer ReviewMore than just a timer - Version: 0.4, 12/1/2004 01:58PM PST

This is a nicely executed timer application. In my limited testing (only had it a day), it performs quite well. Saved alarms that auto-start on opening can cut out a click or two from starting a timer for common tasks like moving clothes from the washer to the dryer. Also, as OS X disables "at" by default, this is a really easy way to schedule checking a web page at a particular time. Its flexibility and design open the possibility to use it in more interesting ways, though I think the scheduler will need a little more flexibility to reach its full potential.

The developer is also responsive to feedback.
