Product Description:

SpamSlam is a effective spam-eliminating tool compatible with all e-mail clients. Unlike filter based anti-spam tools, SpamSlam downloads all of your mail and uses a whitelist combined with a challenge/response system to dynamically rid your life of annoying junk mail. Only real people respond to the challenge e-mail allowing only legitimite addresses to be whitelisted and only important emails to enter your account. Once a person's e-mail address is in your whitelist he or she can e-mail you freely. New updates add a rules system that allows greater flexibility, including real mailing list support and the ability to blacklist and whitelist entire domains. SpamSlam is a one step process to hassle-free electronic communication. Version 2.1 adds the following: Several critical bugs were fixed. Current SpamSlam users are urged to upgrade at their earliest convenience. SpamSlam's AccuFilter has been rewritten and delivers much improved and nearly perfect classification of junk messages.

What's new in this version:

  • Numerous small bug fixes. Most were minor. Approximately 20 minor bugs have been fixed.
  • SpamSlam's SMTP Proxy has been improved to include support for the Eudora email client as well as most others.
  • Added preference where confirmed addresses can be added to every account's whitelist.
  • Added preference to specify the number of rows in the Messages drawer.
  • Compacted the Accounts window to make more efficient use of your screen real estate.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.2 or higher

OK...they've finally pissed me off enought to make a stink in publc. The damn thing keeps crapping out on me and support is non existant. My recommendation: this listing should be removed from Version Tracker. Highly recommended to AVOID.

SpamSlam Reviewilesa support MIA. Is this product dead? - Version: 2.1.1, 11/9/2004 11:54AM PST

I've been using this product since Feburary '04. Support was marginal until recently when it appears to have become non-existent. Filtering etc works well enough for my tastes but numerous GUI rendering problems are making me consider alternatives. I frequently have to kill and restart to recover. I would not recommend purchasing until it's determined whether there's any future plans for support and bug fixing. Sorry Ilesa!

SpamSlam ReviewCannot Recommend - Version: 2.1.1, 9/30/2004 09:03AM PST

I was initially unable to control the challenge/respond fucntionality (I turned it off but it was still doing it).

Challenge/response (ie confirming a mail address to the spammers) drove up my spam mail from 20/pay to 1,000/week. One new account, only weeks old, was caught up in this and now receives up to 100 spams per week.

I simply do not use these accounts anymore. So, if you want to drive Spam in your direction, give your email address to SpamSlam's authors, turn on challenge/response and get ready for more viagra/farm-sex offers than you can shake your stick at.

Not for me and I cannot recommend it for you either.
