disclabel ReviewExcellent support - Version: 5.3, 11/20/2008 12:55PM PST

I agree with Craigmramsay, I used a free earlier version of this software given with a labelmaker for many years, when they discontinued their product I went searching for alternatives and settled on the current version of Disclabel. Living in Australia, the page sizes are different to the US, I sent the sizing details for a widely available label to support, they sent me back a template within 24hrs. That is great customer service and without hesitation I recommend this product - by far and away the best label making software on the Mac.

disclabel ReviewGood Software, Great customer service - Version: 5.3, 10/29/2008 04:00PM PST

You may already have a free program from a specific label maker for making DVD or CD labels and covers for your burned disc media. If you are happy with them then great. I used to use one of those free software programs also and it did a fair job. It was limited to that brands’ labels and a few of the big brand common labels but did not offer a good selection of other options for labels. I am a Mac user and I love the operating system, but sometimes you are limited by what software is available.

However, if you are a Mac user and want a bigger selections of labels or printable media, more flexibility and greater creative freedom with some really special feature then I have a recommendation for you, “DiscLabel”!

DiscLabel is a software by SmileOnMyMac, http://www.smileonmymac.com/DiscLabel/index.html . This software is very easy to use and very flexible. DiscLabel imports the iTunes track list and iTunes track information into your label design. It allows you to design and print your label while your CD or DVD is burning! You can browse your iPhoto library, and DiscLabel places the chosen picture from iPhoto into your jewel case insert design. You can also Import original cover are and labels from the internet to use on your labels.

DiscLabel also does LightScribe design. For those of you who are not familiar with LightScribe. LightScribe drives can burn your data onto your disc and then, using the same laser, burn a precise, iridescent label design on to the special media. It can make some really very beautiful images.

DiscLabel allows you to create CD/DVD labels, DVD Covers, CD Jewel Case Covers, CD Jewel Case Tray inserts, CD Jewel Case Booklets, CD Slimline Jewel Case Inserts, CD Spine, CD Core, DVD Booklets, Slimline DVD Covers, Mini CD, Business Card CD, Super Jewel Box CD insert Front and Rear Covers, Super Jewel Box DVD Insert Booklet, Super Jewel Box DVD Insert Front and Read Covers, VHS Spine, VHS Wrap, VHS Face, Blu-ray Cover and Blu-ray Booklet. DiscLabel supports labels from 65 different media makers and almost 400 different labels. As you can see it give you a lot of media options and flexibility.

However, I have not told you the best yet. I had a DVD project that needed to look professional and classy. I had to use glossy labels I bought the labels recommended by my free software and could not print out the labels. It looked like and my old software did not support the medial that they recommended and sold. I called their support and they could not help. The software had not had an update for over 2 years and they were not planning to do one. I was really mad!

I started checking around on the internet and found a few labels programs for Mac. DiscLabel allowed you to try it before you buy it. They also said that they would look at formating other labels for their software if requests were made. So, I decided to try it. The DiscLabel indicated that it supported the labels that I need to use for this project. Before I bought the software I contacted the support department for DiscLabel via e-mail to inquire about the forms I needed. They responded within a few hours. I was amazed as how quick and helpful they were. Especially when I had not even bought their software yet. They told me that they would look at the form and if it was not already in their vast supply of existing supported forms the would be willing to format it.

Once I bought the software and attempt to print out the labels again, they did not print. I contact support again via e-mail. Again they were very fast and again responded within 2 hours. They resolved the problem in less then a day and I was happily printing labels for my project.

DiscLabel costs US $35.95 and is worth every penny.
