Product Description:

ABMenu adds a menu item in the upper right hand corner that gives users quick access to the information stored in the Address Book application that comes standard with Mac OS X 10.2 and above. When a person's name is selected from the menu, a semi-transparent window appears that displays commonly-used information from that person's Address Book entry, such as phone numbers, email addresses, screen names, and mail addresses.

What's new in this version:

Fixes bug when names start with lowercase letter
Speeds up menu building when using alphabetical submenus

Really helpful little app. I missed this such an easy access to contacts without opening the address book since i stopped using Launchbar.

The only downpoint for me is that it refuses being moved to another position on the menu bar. I'm not sure whether that's an issue of the app itself or the menubar. Most others can be moved, but some stay stuck at the left end of the right array.

sidetracked

Quite similar to the $8 iAddressX. Upside, a bit faster and even more user friendly. And free (although worth a donation). Downside, doesn't have a couple of features (like auto-dial) that iAddressX has.

But overall a terrific, super easy to use, fast link to Address Book info.

I have been looking for a good solution for getting addresses and phone numbers for quite a long time. Smaller than the Dashboard Addressbook widget and the Addressbook itself! Always available without making me switch apps or desktops. Good job.
