Product Description:

IndexFinger is a program with one simple function: creating an index of every web page in a folder on your hard drive. It takes the amazingly boring task of finding every html page in every folder and sub-folder and creating one page which links directly to each of those pages. This site index can then be uploaded and incorporated with the rest of your site, submitted to search engines (to ensure thorough crawling by their robots), or for your own use.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.3
  • Mac OS X 10.2
  • Mac OS X 10.1

Additional Requirements:

  • Mac OS X 10.1.3 or higher

Does just as advertised. I was wishing I had something like this just a couple days ago. Thanks

IndexFinger Usage TipResponse for drmemory1 - Version: 1.0, 8/17/2003 06:22PM PST

The index file is the name of the file that your server will select to be the index. In general, this will be "index.html" or "index.htm".

The adding hyperlinks listed in pages is definitely a possible feature for future versions! Thanks for the suggestion!

IndexFinger CommentaryQuestion - Version: 1.0, 8/17/2003 09:03AM PST

This product seems to work fine, although I'm a bit confused and have some comments on a couple of things. 1) I don't understand what the "Index File Name" is (I don't find one created either). what's the difference between it and the "Site Index File Name"? 2) I wish that one could select more than one folder at a time to index. 3) I wish that all hyperlinks contained on any html page would also be added to the index. IOW, if a folder contains two html pages and each of those pages contain a list of hyperlinked PDF files, I'd like all those links to also appear on the Index. Thanks.
