Product Description:

ExpanDrive lets you transparently access, open, edit and save files from within all your favorite programs - TextMate, Photoshop, Acorn, Terminal and even Finder. No need to load a separate client to transfer files. Access remote files over SSH/SFTP from directly within Finder - as easily as if they are on an USB drive you plugged directly into your own computer

What's new in this version:

  • Updated preference pane with cleaner design and new registration tab
  • Support for FTP servers that don't properly negotiate an FTPS session
  • Improved compatibility with a number of other FTP servers.
  • Reliability improved with some programs that have inappropriate assumptions about when data will be written to disk. (Note to developers: you must explicitly flush or close your files before the data is guaranteed to be on disk.)
  • Volume icons should update more reliably in the Finder.
  • Bug fixes and performance enhancements.

Operating System Requirements:

This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:

  • Mac OS X 10.5 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.5 PPC
  • Mac OS X 10.4 Intel
  • Mac OS X 10.4 PPC

Additional Requirements:

ExpanDrive ReviewGreat app, too expensive. - Version: 2.0.4, 8/20/2009 01:32PM PST

ExpanDrive is a great application that somehow seems to be fast and stable (despite using MacFUSE). I was super excited after downloading it and trying it out, and then I saw the price tag: $39.95. Quite ridiculous for what is essentially a pretty SFTP/S3 client. Panic's Transmit, a full-fledged client, is only $29.95. But wait, there's more! Add ExpanDrive as a fan on Facebook and get a dollar off coupon. Oh great, $38.95. No thanks. Fail.

I have been using ExpanDrive since it was released, and before that I used MacFuse/MacFusion, and even though ExpanDrive uses MacFuse, the developers have improved greatly on what is available through the open source MacFuse.

ExpanDrive CommentaryGreat application gets even better with new version. - Version: 2.0.1, 5/5/2009 05:01AM PST

I have been using ExpanDrive mostly to access a remote server and absolutely love it. With the new version 2 you now have access to Amazon S3 accounts. I now use it to access my S3 account and absolutely love the convenience. I rarely have to open an FTP application anymore. Once you log into a remote server via ExpanDrive you have full access to that server just as it where an external HD attatched to your computer. You can just drag & drop files from the Finder to the server sitting on your desktop and in Finder window sidebar. Also, all the servers you are connected to show up in the standard Mac Open/Save dialog windows from within any application.

ExpanDrive 2 is a great application that just got a whole lot better. I love it!
